Lea is from New York City. She is a rising senior at Oberlin College, majoring in Studio Art with a minor in Art History. She creates mixed-media pieces, collaging paper with oil paint. Pulling images from her family archive, she creates abstract landscapes as a tool to translate her feelings about being an Asian American adoptee. She is also concerned about the relationship between her identity and the spaces around her. Spending time in the Midwest as a New Yorker, her interest in sitting in vast flat spaces has influenced her work.
She has recently begun re-learning Chinese and spent her summer at the Middlebury Language School, and her recent pieces reflect that experience.
